About our Business CTE Courses:

The Business Academy incorporates a curriculum that emphasizes the importance of technology for success in managing and creating a business for all of our courses. 
 
To earn the CTE endorsement, all business students must complete the following:

Note:
  • In cases where a course doesn't fit during a student's day program (with the exception of College Now courses), it'll be programmed as an independent study course. 

Course Overview:

Career and Financial Management:
  • In this course, students will learn what it means to have a career and plan for life after high school. Students will also learn the basics of finances and how to manage them.
  • Students develop career-finding skills and finance management skills. 
  • This course must be completed in order to qualify for a paid internship with Work-Based Learning.
 
Microsoft Office Specialist:
  • In this course, students will learn how to professionally use Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel with an emphasize on how it's use in professional careers.
  • This course cultivates with the Microsoft Office Specialist exam for each application. These certifications can be utilized on one's resume.
 
E-Commerce:
  • In this course, students will learn how to create an online business. They will learn the foundations of creating a business, build on their Microsoft Office skills to help plan their business, and understand the power of Ecommerce in the modern world. 
 
Web Design:
  • In this course, students will learn how to create and manage websites for promotion of their business. Students will learn how to use Adobe Dreamweaver, Illustrator, and Photoshop. 
  • Students will also learn the basics of HTML and CSS to understand how websites are created.
  • This course cultivates with the Adobe Associate exam for each Adobe application. These certifications can be utilized on one's resume.
 
Work-Based Learning:
  • In this course, students will gain real-life work experiences where they can apply academic and technical skills and develop their employability
  • Students are given a paid internship, in which they must work at least 65 hours to earn the CTE endorsement. 
 
Intro to Business (College Now):
  • Learn the fundamentals of management, marketing, and business in the global environment, with a focus on entrepreneurship and creating a business.
  • To be eligible for this course:
    • 75+ ELA Regents or 85+ English/Social Studies GPA or 480+ SAT or 48+ PSAT Verbal
 
Principles of Marketing (College Now)
  • This course provides basic principles and perspectives of the functions, institutions, methods and problems of marketing goods and services through traditional paths as well as through e-business.
  • To be eligible for this course:
    • Successfully pass Intro to Business
