At Newtown High School, we believe that every school day matters. Regular attendance gives students the best opportunity to succeed academically, socially, and personally. When students are in school consistently, they are better able to keep up with coursework, participate in classroom activities, and develop meaningful connections with their peers and teachers.
Research continues to show a strong connection between attendance and student achievement. Missing just a few days throughout the year can result in missed instruction that is difficult to make up. As absences increase, students may find it more challenging to stay on track with assignments, assessments, and learning goals.
