School Mission
At Newtown High School we develop and strengthen our students’ academic and interpersonal skills needed to be successful in their postsecondary goals. We prepare our students for a competitive and ever-changing economy by having them major in career-oriented pathways during their four years of school. Newtown celebrates the diversity of our students and community and fosters an inclusive school climate that builds character and espouses integrity as productive members of society.
At Newtown HS we provide our students with equitable and purposeful education by empowering our diverse learners to reach their fullest potential. Through our student-centered majors and engaging programs, students will become productive citizens who demonstrate perseverance and integrity with the goal of achieving lucrative professions.
All students will achieve the daily performance objective of the lesson by meeting or exceeding the lesson's academic standards through these key components:
- Daily formative assessment aligned to a rubric or checklist of success criteria (DPS)
- Appropriate grouping of students based don correct levels of difficulty (differentiation/scaffolding)
- Student centered activities that promote discussion and collaboration
