Hello and Welcome!

My name is Panagiota Giakoumis and I am proud to serve as the Assistant Principal of Guidance at Newtown High School. Newtown has been my professional home for over 15 years, beginning in the classroom as a Global History teacher. It is a community where we truly "tower above the rest!"

Education and student advocacy have been my lifelong passions. Throughout my time at Newtown—previously serving as a classroom teacher, Respect for All Liaison, 504 Coordinator, and MTSS Coordinator—my mission has remained constant: ensuring every student feels seen, valued, and empowered to reach their highest potential.

In my role leading our Guidance and Student Support Services, I collaborate closely with our counselors, staff, families, and community partners to provide robust academic, college/career, and social-emotional pathways for every student.
