Extracurricular Activities:
Debate Team:
  • Newtown debaters have competed successfully in numerous tournaments hosted by the American Debate League, earning recognition for their critical thinking, teamwork, and persuasive speaking skills. The team has proudly represented Newtown at prestigious competitions such as the Harvard National Tournament, where a select group showcased their talent among the nation’s best. Newtown debaters have consistently placed in the top ranks across citywide and regional contests, with students excelling as both speakers and judges. Beyond trophies and rankings, the team’s greatest success lies in its culture of collaboration, mentorship, and confidence-building. Members learn to research, reason, and advocate effectively. These skills extend far beyond the classroom, teaching all that every voice has the power to make an impact.
Book Club:
  • Do you have an interest in the newest books? The Newtown Book Club welcomes all students who love to read, discuss, and share ideas! Each month, members explore a new book—ranging from timeless classics to contemporary bestsellers—through lively conversations that spark curiosity and critical thinking. The club provides a welcoming space to connect with fellow readers, discover diverse perspectives, and develop a lifelong appreciation for literature. Whether you’re an avid reader or just starting to explore new genres, the Newtown Book Club invites you to turn the page and join the story.
Newspaper Club:
  • The Newtown Newspaper Club gives students a voice to inform, inspire, and engage the school community. Members take on the roles of reporters, editors, photographers, and designers to create a student-run publication that highlights campus events, student achievements, and issues that matter. Through hands-on experience in journalism, students build skills in writing, research, collaboration, and media literacy. Whether you’re passionate about storytelling, current events, or creative design, the Newspaper Club is the perfect place to share your perspective and make your mark.
