The ultimate attendance goal at Newtown High School is that each student strives to achieve 100% attendance to all classes. Track your child’s attendance in your NYC Schools Account NYCSA. 

In the event of an absence, students must complete the following  absence note and return it to Room 117.  Students are responsible for all the material covered during their absence. They must make-up all missing assignments. 

Families must provide a reason for absences. Families must have up-to-date phone numbers and addresses on: 

 

To Notify the school of an extended absence (3 or more consecutive days)

Attendance is a required, legal record.  Excused absences are still absences.  A child who does not attend school must be marked absent, even if the absence is excused. 

To participate in any PSAL sports team, students are required to maintain an attendance record of 90 and above. The PSAL 90 percent attendance requirement does not count excused absences. Seniors must maintain good attendance to participate in senior events.
